What you'll do

This is the perfect cooking class for those who want to go to a small but special market (where many of Mérida top restaurant chefs shop), learn about local ingredients, and pick out the ripest, most flavorful and most rare.. Ever heard of Zapote, Mamey, Achiote? We will explain all about them and let you taste so much more..
Then back to the beautiful colonial style hotel for hands on chopping, slicing and mixing.
This is the time to test the chef with questions like: "what is the secret of a good guacamole?" or "what is the difference between tequila and mescal?", "Can I have a Xtabentum?"
Ai ! we forgot the buy the Chaya, no problem we will harvest it fresh out of the garden.
Meanwhile the panuchos, brazo de reina, cochinita, guacamole, sopa de lima or other food gets close to be ready, Metzin, our charming hostess, took some pictures of you doing all the hard work in the kitchen.
We are sure you will be hungry as a delicious meal will be served in the enchanting courtyard. Please take some pictures!
Other things to note

Rita (Yucateca) met Jan (Dutch) more than a decade ago and together the started a B&B. The B&B grew up and became a rewarded Hotel Boutique. A gourmet restaurant was added only for clients of the hotel and a group of young talented cooks were hired. David and Jacob are the main performers of the stage of this cooking class and grew up with the Yucatecan cuisine. Together with Metzin (the hostess) they form an unbeatable team of the Sharing Traditions Cooking Class & Market Tour.

This tour is amazing! I did it with 3 friends and it was a great bonding experience. It's a full day on the market and kitchen, and you will be blown away by the food you prepare. We even had enough leftover to snack on later. Don't hesitate at all. Chef Maria and Nelly are amazing women who make this experience extra special! It'smore than worth every penny 😉

We absolutely loved our cooking class! It was a lot of fun to go to the market, hear a little bit of local history of the barrios, and make absolutely phenomenal food. We had tons of food at the end (more than we could finish, though we certainly wanted to!) and appreciated that they sent out a recipe book and photos.

The experience with the small group of 4 people was perfect. The cook and the translator were very friendly and clearly knew what they were doing. The food we prepared was delicious and we could easily follow the assignments the cook gave us. We enjoyed the day very much and would always come back.

Everything about this cooking class was fantastic - the people were so nice, brilliant chef and translator, amazing market tour and really interesting tuition. We came away with a much better knowledge of Mexican food and also of Merida more generally - highly recommend this experience to anyone. Thank you for a great day 😀
