What you'll do

After pausing a year for Covid, we're finally back in business. We've also moved our biplane flight lesson to historic Falcon Field in Mesa, AZ. In this experience you will be exposed to flying in open cockpit biplane (Stearman) over the beautiful mountains, northeast of Mesa. The Stearman was used as a primary training airplane for most of the pilots during WWII, so you will be learning in an authentic piece of history. There are only 2 seats in the plane, one for you and one for me. We'll start with a pre-flight inspection followed by an explanation of the radios and controls. We can fly smooth and level, or we can add in some more energetic maneuvers for those that desire a more thrilling experience. You will be invited to take the controls as part of the lesson. From engine start to return will take approximately 30 minutes, although the entire experience lasts about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

This is a unique experience where you will be exposed to the same type of training that the "Greatest Generation" did during World War II. Flying and training in the Stearman is like traveling back in time nearly 80 years. This experience would certainly make a most memorable gift for birthdays, weddings, holidays, anniversaries, graduations, or "just because". It's also a great gift for the pilot who has everything. A Hold Harmless agreement will need to be signed before flying.

I bought this experience for my father as a Christmas gift. I was so nervous because this has been a dream for him since he was a child and I knew his expectations would be high. Craig not only met these high expectations but exceeded them. My mom and I were able to join for the preflight check and demonstration which was super cool and interesting. Craig is very kind, patient, and informative. We also took so many great pictures. Afterwards, my dad was over the moon and kept raving about the experience. He had the best time! The extra bonus was paying a small price for him to turn on a GoPro and capture my dad’s flight so he can watch it back and share it. In my dads words, this should be on everyone’s bucket list.

Craig is a pilots pilot ! he is knowledgeable and friendly and above all super safe. He was very helpful with the pictures and answered all question about the airplane and he speaks on many levels from beginner 1st timer to advanced. If your thinking about a super cool thing to do in the Mesa/Phoenix area this is it by far !

My husband and I were thinking about cancelling, since we couldn't find a babysitter, but it was non refundable within the 24 hours before, and we're SO glad we didn't cancel! Craig did an amazing intro and history on the plane and my husband was over the moon with the experience in the air. He is already talking about getting his own pilot's license in the future so he can go up more often. Craig was so understanding of our toddler being there and it didn't end up being a problem! Our son was excited to see dada take off and land. Definitely a great experience!

Wow! This was such an incredible experience. All of my pilot friends are jealous of my experience in this aircraft and want to sign up themselves! Craig spent a perfect amount of time introducing the aircraft, sharing his knowledge and experience as well as his passion for aviation. You were well coached and prepared prior to getting into the Spearman. When flying, he was very communicative and supportive. The sites were beautiful and the aircraft was very easy to manage. Take off and landing were so much fun as well. All in all, this experience encouraged me to sign up for flight school! I highly recommend this experience to everyone interested in history, aviation, engineering or a unique experience in general.

We absolutely loved this flight experience! I got it for my boyfriend for Christmas, who is a history major and has always had an interest in planes. He really loved learning about the plane and its history, and of course getting to fly it itself! Craig was really great in showing my boyfriend what to do and letting him decide how many "tricks" and whatnot they did. I would definitely recommend this!
