What you'll do

For years, the River Arts District or "RAD," has been a popular spot for visitors; however, many guests arrive asking: "What do we do once we arrive?" This tour hits the highlights and provides you with a hands-on RAD experience you will not forget and you pay what you want in the end!

Starting at Magnetic Theatre, we walk down Depot Street to learn about the history of the RAD, the artists and visit ONE gallery. We will stop at the Grind Coffee for a taste of local brews, then tour the historical Grey Eagle Music Venue and taste Taqueria snacks! We will view glass blowing demonstrations at the NC Glass Center, then walk alongside the river, learning stories about the legends of the French Broad as well as a list of activities you can do on the river post-tour!
2pm tours finish on Foundy Street to learn all about the graffiti that covers the walls and the creative local businesses.

Throughout the tour, I will be providing insider tips on the best places to eat, drink and play for the best prices, including the places where locals hang out for free!

On the afternoon tour, we will end the tour outside of Pleb Urban Winery where guests will have the option to go to Pleb for a glass of wine or the Wedge Brewery for a beer with specials offered only to our tour guests! ~3 miles

In the morning tour (shorter ) we will taste some gelato and end at cotton mill! ~2 miles

I am a world-wide traveler. I have lived in 5 countries and have visited 48 thus far. I love to meet new people, experience new cultures and try really delicious food and drinks. I have worked with tourism in many aspects of my life but the most significant was the two years I spent in Brazil hosting volunteer groups and planning their itineraries from beginning to end. I learned a lot about what people want to do when they have a limited time to do it! When I came back from Brazil in 2017, I moved to Asheville and fell in love with the city and I have been sharing it with friends from all over ever since. I have been operating downtown tours for years now and decided it was time to open up a RAD tour as well to share new and exciting pieces of Asheville with my guests

We will be in the quirky River Arts District of Asheville. As it says in the name, the "RAD" as it is called, is located alongside the French Broad River. The RAD is known for its art galleries, delicious food and drinks, and fun entertainment venues. The RAD also has an interesting history of how it came to be and how it has evolved over the years.

What a great way to see Asheville, learn some history, and support the arts. We enjoyed David’s storytelling and guidance. It was easy to communicate with Jordan which made our experience even better!

This was an extremely organized, thorough and well researched experience. As the host, Jordan was very organized, provided wonderful instructions for the gathering spot, and was very attentive about addressing all of our questions. Our guide, Caroline, was very friendly, passionate about the River Arts District (RAD), and very professional. We had a great afternoon getting immersed into the local scene. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a true local’s perspective on the blossoming RAD neighborhood.

We loved our tour/walk with Caroline. She was very knowledgeable about the RAD. We would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and the people we met were all very friendly. Just be aware that the arts district is not in the nicest part of town.

Really generous with time and introducing us to the unique art and food highlights of RAD. Made our stay in Asheville much richer!
