What you'll do

This tour is largely outdoors, you'll need vax proof to go inside. The advantage to having done more pub crawls than anyone else in the city, is that I have the widest range of classic bars, and the best bartenders in the city, at my disposal. These people are my friends. New Orleans is a cocktail town, with reason. This is an evening of classic concoctions, ghost stories, city history, drinking tales, and voodoo. I'll tie all of these points together into a cohesive experience of chills, laughs, and must-have drink suggestions. This is still well-researched history, but I'm here to make it fun. Let me save you from the dull recitation of New Orleans' bullet points - I put on a show. This is storytelling, and through these stories, I will help you connect with one of the most amazing cities on the planet.

I will balance the tour locations based on group interest. This is an introduction to the important signature drinks of New Orleans. However, this is definitely unpretentious. You are not required to buy anything, drink what you wish. In between bars, we will visit some historical, and haunted locations, while I weave all the content into a well-rounded evening. This is perfect for groups with a wide range of interests.....except vampire stories, I don't do vampire stories, those are made up.
It is logistically easier to let you buy your own drinks, I don't provide them

I have given thousands of tours, and I am a licensed tour guide who has walked with over 40,000 visitors. Nobody in New Orleans has given more pub crawls than I have, and I have been filmed for Travel Channel and other documentaries. I have years of rave reviews behind me - it's been an honor representing this great city. I'm passionate about storytelling, history, and helping people connect with the amazing. Consider me a future resource, a friend to ask questions and strategize your way through the city's complexities. I love meeting and knowing people from other locations, and I've stayed in touch with many of my guests throughout the years.
So, this is kind of like having a buddy in town, who is also an actor, historian, writer, musician, foodie, bartender, and travel guru.

We will visit classic and neighborhood bars that have some of the best bartenders in the city. With drinks in hand, we will walk and stop at historical places between each bar, and hear some of the old ghost stories that have fascinated New Orleanians for generations. We'll talk history, a little architecture, and drinking tales. I will mold the content and venues based on group interest.

John is very personable and engaging, and utterly bewitches his audience with in-depth stories about New Orleans and its people. He also had some fantastic bar recommendations, and took us to some amazing places that only a local would know how to find. The ghost stories and places are creepy and quite authentic. Check it out!

John is an amazing storyteller of factual events that happened in NOLA. He has great insight and is available for extra recommendations. You will love this walking tour, the drinks were great… it’s a very casual tour- more like hanging out with a local with a great knowledge of history.

This experience was definitely worth it! John is very animated and passionate about the stories he tells, and made sure to not go down the rabbit hole outside of what he believed. He had a lot of sources to back up his info. We had a good mix of receiving info and getting to know everyone on the tour. Plus the drinks were awesome!

The bars he took us to were great and we ended up trying things we wouldn’t have known about. John was super informative and helpful.

John was great! He’s very knowledgeable and great at telling stories. He is very passionate about history so you know you’ll get great and useful information. He also took us to 3 different bars and explained the history of each. I really liked the homemade ginger beer from bar tonique. Thank you for the information and great experience.
