What you'll do

Did you know that spending time around animals reduces stress and increases feelings of happiness? You can double that when they are rescued goats!

Come spend outdoor time in a small group with ample room for social distancing to meet some of the most affectionate goats there are. Visitors will get to meet and learn about each goat and breed as well as their rescue stories, behaviors and unique characteristics of the species. We are loaded with goat fun facts and corny goat puns to add a little laughter into our day!

You'll also become part of the herd when we proceed to hike through marked trails on our 15 acre property with the goats, who enjoy navigating the trails and foraging along the way. Watching the goats in a natural habitat and bonding with them is truly magical.

We end with extra quality time with all of the goats, who love lots of attention, allowing for plenty of hugs, scratches, and photo ops. Everyone leaves with a sticker of their favorite goat.

This experience is fun for all ages - we have an equal amount of adults and children. If a date or time isn't available on our calendar, please ask! We have an open schedule and would love to accommodate you if we can.

Other things to note
This experience is rain or shine. Bringing water bottles is recommended.
*Please note that there is no public restroom on-site.

We have cared for rescue goats for over 9 years. After our first goat wandered onto our property after being "set free" by a local camp, we constructed our current animal enclosure and have grown our "family" to eleven very friendly (and spoiled) rescue goats. Each one comes with a different rescue story, from being seized from a "backyard butcher" to a defunct petting zoo operation, we will share each narrative with you during your visit. I am a supporter of, and have collaborated with, Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary and Farm Sanctuary in both receiving our rescued animals (we also have 19 rescued chickens!) and caring for them. We are excited to share their stories with you!

"Frederick Farm" is a 15 acre property and residence, also host to 3 separate Airbnb rentals. We have a large vegetable garden for the animals adjacent to the animal enclosure, which is several fenced in acres of pasture and forest, with a natural stream throughout. Our marked trails meander through the property for our hike. Our site is located in the Catskill Park and is walking distance to the Rondout Reservoir with spectacular water views

Had the most fun with Meagan and her goats! We hiked through the snow around the property and it was so much fun have the goats along with you. You spend enough time with all of them that you learn their story and personalities. Absolutely recommend! PS - goats are goats and will head butt you.

What better way to start a vacation than hiking up snowy hills with friendly fluffy goats!? Very grateful for letting us Butt into their busy lives. Despite the cold we didn't run into any Hairy situations on the trail. Fun for all ages with an Appetite for adventure and friendship!

We had such a lovely time meeting Meagan and the goats. The goats were sweet, the hike was enjoyable and we were provided with crampons to use to improve traction on the ice. There was a fire to relax by and warm up and warm beverages to enjoy as well! Highly recommended.

Making Memories! My daughter can’t stop talking about how she was head butted 7 times! Thank you for what you do for these amazing animals!

This was such a magical experience! The property is beautiful and Meagan was so warm and welcoming. She really loves and knows these goats and they all have unique stories. We had a great time hanging with the goats and taking a hike. Loved the warm drinks since it was an especially cold day. Can’t wait to come back this summer !

Everything was so well-thought out from the fun facts you could read along the .5 mile hike to the complementary drinks and snacks by the campfire. Meagan was so friendly and personable. We loved meeting all the goats and getting to spend some stress-relieving time with such lovely animals.
